We left Fremantle and made our way down to
Bunbury looking forward to catching up with Bernie’s Cousin Vincent and lovely
wife Kim. We also had a lot of post sent
to their home as we needed to do some much-needed repairs to the caravan. we were very excited with the idea of not having to
sleep in the caravan for a while and the dogs also had a garden to run around
in without being tied up.
So, after a lovely evening of catch up and a
great night’s sleep, we went off to explore the vineyards in the Bunbury area
the following day. First vineyard was
Capel Vale. Below
photos of Kim, Vincent, Steve, Simone (Kim and Vincent’s daughter) and Bernie
at the entrance to the winery. Unfortunately,
we did not purchase any wines from this winery.
Below photo of Kim, Vincent and me.
We stopped off at another winery that had these
big dragonflies at their entrance, and once again we never bought any wine as
they did not please the taste buds and not to mention the high prices they were
asking for a bottle.
We then stopped off at another winery and had
lunch which was absolutely delicious.
After a lovely weekend, with a possibility of
too much food and wine, we went sightseeing with Vincent who had a day off work. We went to some of
his favourite surfing beaches, and these were absolutely breathtakingly
beautiful. See photos below were taken
at Yallingup.
Lovely photo below of
Bernie & Vincent.
The area here was covered with flowering
freesias, the place smelt so fresh and beautiful.
Here is Bernie and Vincent looking out at the
surf beach that Vincent frequents very often.
And yes, I found some more flowers growing wild
near the Cowaramup point or Gracetown surf and abseiling beaches, there were
gorgeous lilies with the freesias inbetween.
Below photos from this lovely coast line.
On our travels through this lovely coast line,
we decided to go the Ngilgi Caves, and have to say we thoroughly enjoyed this
tour. How amazing mother nature is.
Below photos showing Bernie and Vincent going
down into the cave.
Looking down as we entered the cave.
The photo below shows just how narrow the gap
is, between the rocks and the stairway.
After this wonderful underground experience, we
travelled to Naturaliste and once again a stunning coast line.
A nice selfie of the 3 musketeers.
The above photo of our last stop for the day
before heading back home to Bunbury.
Photo below finished off a wonderful day with wonderful
family. Bernie, Kim, Michel (who surprised us with his presence) and Vincent. This would have to be one of the
best evenings that we have had on our trip around Australia).
Photo of two wonderful brothers, was such a special time for
us to spend with family.
Our next stop was going up to
Mandurah this too was wonderful and such a quaint place.
Came across these 2 beautiful
sport cars, naturally the boys were envious and the view of the beautiful harbour.
The photos below shows a panoramic view of the Mandurah harbour.
Following this we then
explored Bunbury and this too is such a beautiful and upcoming town with so
much development going on. Note that Bunbury is the second largest town in WA.
Photos below show a panoramic view of the Bunbury
estuary, lake and the town of Bunbury in the background.
We explored the little town of
Bunbury on another occasion and you will notice the weather had started to turn and
got very cold and rainy. The photos below show a panoramic view of Bunbury from
a tower lookout, showing the sea on the one side and the estuary on the other
side.
We stayed with Vincent and Kim
for nearly 2 weeks and had such an amazing time with them, naturally having one too many wines and beers, eating good food and even going out to see
Bridget Jones baby at the movies. It was so lovely not having to worry about the dogs as they
were safe at Vincent and Kim’s home.
Photo below of a wonderful evening out to their favourite Thai
restaurant.
Our stay in Bunbury was just
fantastic and as we left Vincent and Kim with heavy hearts to continue on our journey south.
Our next port of call is
Augusta and Walpole.
